Abstract

This paper examines the perceptions of teachers on the use of visual aids in student learning. The qualitative case study approach was used as a research design. Five school teachers were interviewed for the study. The data were collected through the use of semi-structured interviews. The findings of this study further support the existing literature and the previous research. The study revealed that teachers had positive perception about visual aids. They perceived visual aids as one of the crucial and significant tools for teaching and learning.  Evidences from this study suggest that teaching becomes more effective and easier for teachers through the use of visual aids. The study revealed some of the problems faced by the teachers in using modern visual aids. The participants in the study clearly pointed out erratic and unreliable internet connection as a barrier to the use of ICT in teaching –learning process. The study also found out heavy workload of teachers as one of the impending factors in the preparation of visual aids in their lesson.
